Tourism NI invite you on a Journey into our Giant Spirit.

Tourism in Northern Ireland has grown over the past decade into a £1billion industry.  We have even greater ambition for the sector of the next decade projecting a doubling of tourism revenue by 2030.

In line with this, an exciting new experience brand has been developed for Northern Ireland and Tourism NI is delighted to share it with you at our upcoming brand roadshows.

Northern Ireland – Embrace a Giant Spirit is an opportunity and an invitation to create economic uplift for everyone involved in tourism, in all parts of Northern Ireland.  It will build on the strengths and successes of the last decade to give authentic experiences provided by businesses large and small, that will leave our visitors with unforgettable memories.  This new experience brand will be used by Tourism NI and Tourism Ireland to promote Northern Ireland on the island of Ireland and internationally with the aim of increasing visitor numbers and ensuring economic impact across all regions of NI.

NI Tourism Awards 2020 – now open

Tourism businesses across Northern Ireland are encouraged to get their entries in to the 2020 Northern Ireland Tourism Awards in association with Diageo Northern Ireland.

The awards will take place on Thursday 6th June in Slieve Donard Resort & Spa.

These awards recognise and reward excellence, best practice and innovation by tourism and hospitality businesses across Northern Ireland over the last twelve months

This year, businesses have the opportunity to compete for twelve categories including a new category for 2020, Excellence in International Marketing & Sales, and individual categories for B&B and Guest House accommodation providers for the first time.

The deadline for submitting entries for the awards is 5pm Friday 21st February.

Northern Ireland Tourism Awards 2020 Information Session

 To help you get the most out of this year’s awards process,Tourism Northern Ireland is holding an industry information session on Monday 27th January at Dunadry Hotel & Gardens.

This short morning session, running from 10am – 12.30pm will include a summary of how to enter for this year’s awards, explain the updated judging process and aim to answer any questions you may have.

CCAG Council – World Host Service Across Cultures Training

World Host Service Across Cultures Training
Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council are running  a World Host Service Across Cultures training course for tourism and hospitality  businesses in the Causeway Coast and Glens destination. Our World Host Service Across Cultures programme aims to increase your staff’s awareness of other cultures and gives them practical skills and advice to help them communicate effectively with visitors or clients from overseas.

This will  help your business gain a competitive edge with your international visitors through staff completing a world-class accredited training programme which has been specifically developed to raise the standard and delivery of customer service in the UK.

The course will be delivered by Chambers Consulting and Causeway Coast Foodie Tours and is offered at a subsidised cost of only £10 per participant, which will include all World Host training materials, certificate and a light lunch.

CCR Tourism Cluster Meeting – Tue 21 Jan 2020

Causeway Coastal Route Tourism Cluster Business Meeting – Tuesday 21 January 2020 at The Lodge Hotel, Coleraine

We hope you will be able to join us for the next CCR Tourism Cluster Meeting at The Lodge Hotel, Coleraine on Tuesday 21 January 6.30-9.30pm. We have 3 great speakers lined up to present to the meeting:

Patricia Scott from booking.com 

Along with a Senior Account Manager from Edinburgh office will be joining us. Patricia will do a 10/15 minute presentation to include the changing face of tourism, how trends are changing. The vision for booking.com is to create a one stop shop where the guests can  purchase flights, accommodation, and tickets to attractions and experiences. This we believe is an opportunity for everyone to make contact with and ask questions on how to drive future business along the Causeway Coastal Route.

As a major tourism partner driving tourism to NI, and looking for different experiences accommodations and activities, this will be a great opportunity for you to listen to and speak with Ian on how you can grow your business within this year round market.

Kelli Bagchus, Manager of Carrickfergus Enterprise

Many of you already know Kelli Bagchus. Kelli has been appointed to carry out the Phase 1 scoping study for our CCR Tourism Cluster Collaborative Growth Project. Kelli is about to start her work with a completion date of the beginning of November 2020. Kelli will explain her role in the project and how all cluster members within the 3 Clusters can participate in the programme. By participating you’ll be able to influence tourism in your area, find out more about how to bring your product experience or activity to market and help create a more sustainable tourism business within your community and the Causeway Coastal Route.

Antrim Glens Tourism Cluster AGM – Tue 04 February 2020

Please join us for our Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 4 February at 2pm at Glenariffe Community & Recreation Centre.

In addition to the Chair’s Annual Report for 2019, we will also be voting in the AGT Committee for 2020 – so if you’d like to either stand for election, or nominate someone else, please email Michael Bird by 5.00pm Friday 31 January. The Committee posts are as follows:

  • Vice Chair
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer/Membership Co-ordinator
  • Assistant Treasurer
  • Marketing & Web Co-ordinator

We also usually have a couple of non-portfolio Committee members so that we have around 8-10 Committee members in all.
